3 Questions We Should Ask More Often (But Don’t)

1. Does my life reflect my philosophy?

Everyone has some internal set of beliefs that dictates the way they live their lives. If you’re a huge Naruto fan, you could call it your “Ninja Way”. It comes out in the way that we describe ourselves. We say we value honesty or that we are loyal friends, that we love being creative or that family is our number one priority. But sometimes we should stand back and really evaluate whether our lives actually reflect the values we espouse.

2. What do I really want out of life?

Life gets busy. We go from one task to another and after awhile we forget what we want. It’s good to take some time to sit back and figure out what we actually want from life. What are your goals for your time here? Do you want to be happy? Have healthy relationships? Make an impact on the world?

3. Am I actually getting what I want?

So maybe you know your goals. You might want to be a world class chef or really, really want a healthy relationship with your parents. But how are you going to get there? Take some time to concretely plan actions which will bring you closer to where you want to be. For example, you might start taking those cooking classes or calling your parents once a week.
