Starbucks Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino

The weather is turning warmer and Frappuccinos are coming back in style. Until May 15th Starbucks is having Frappuccino Happy Hours from 3pm to 5pm or 6pm if you’re a rewards member. They’ve brought back one of my favorite drinks, the S’mores Frappuccino, for the occasion. If you’d like to read more about that drink, I did a review which you can find here. And they’ve also introduced a new drink: the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino. I was staring at the wall of syrups a couple of days before the drink came out and thought I say a bottle that said “Waffle Cone” on it but dismissed it. They’ve never offered this drink before and so it came completely unexpected to me.

The Starbucks website describes the drink as follows

We blend waffle cone-flavored syrup and dark caramel sauce with milk and ice. Then top it with whipped cream, real pieces of waffle cone and more dark caramel sauce. It’s a carnival delight, all grown up.

However, if you’re expecting a sugary ice cream cone delight, prepare to be disappointed. The strongest note in this drink is the dark caramel. The bitter taste can be a little overwhelming with the bitterness of the coffee mix in the frappuccino and it’s definitely not for everyone. It was definitely not what I expected. I wouldn’t say that the drink lacks sweetness, but the bitterness from the dark caramel can be difficult to get over. That being said, my favorite part of this drink is the sugar cone topping that goes on top.

It was good in its own way but not the type of drink I would order myself. I hope that this was useful for you!

Happy sipping!
