Salted cream isn’t a new drink concept. It’s been around boba tea shops for a long time now. Salted cream on tea, salted cream on coffee, and even variations like salted cheese have been on menus for at least a couple of years. But now Starbucks has decided to jump in on the salted cream game.
And I was really surprised how much I liked the Salted Cream Cold Brew. The sweet and creamy salted cream pairs perfectly with the smokey, bitter taste of the cold brew.
The cold brew is also sweetened with caramel syrup. But another syrup or sauce could be substituted to change up the flavor. Adding a pump of peppermint syrup for example would result in a sweet and refreshing new flavor.
First the barista adds syrup to the cup and then tops it off with cold brew from the tap and ice. Next they make the salted cream by tossing a salt and cream mixture in a blender and blending until foamy.
I recommend getting extra foam if you can, though I must warn you it’s an extra $0.50 upcharge.
This drink gets a 5/5 from me.
