It’s been one of those random weeks where there’s nothing much going on.
The Unicorn Frappuccino came out this week and will be gone by tomorrow. I wrote a review on it here if you want to check it out. When I went out to try it a bunch of people from my office wanted to try it so we came out with five!
I’ve been listening to audiobooks at work for awhile through either Overdrive or Hoopla, both programs that give you access to a library of free ebooks and audiobooks when you register an account with them using your public library card.
This week, I “read” The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron. I really love the Young Adult genre though many aren’t all that well written. I thought that the Forgetting had an interesting premise, a city in which everyone forgets everything every 12 years. It can be confusing at times but definitely kept me guessing until the end. I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for something light and interesting to read.
I had the opportunity to spend some time volunteering in my local community garden this week. It was an interesting experience! Though I spend a lot of time cooking, I don’t spend a lot of time gardening. I have the hardest time keeping my plants alive. Even my succulents died after a month. We harvested peas and radishes and it was so interesting to see how the plants grew. I feel like it’s easy to forget all the work that goes into growing the food we eat and I came out with a newfound sense of appreciation for people who farm for a living. If you’re thinking of volunteering at your local community garden I definitely recommend the experience! It was really nice to be around plants and be out in nature.
A new Hong Kong dessert restaurant opened in my city. I love mango sago, a dessert made from sago pearls and mangoes. When I studied in Singapore, I used to make special trips into Chinatown just to visit my favorite dessert shop and have it. It’s been awhile since I’ve had it and I wasn’t disappointed when I did. I can’t always go out for it though, I found this recipe online so that I can make it at home though.
Thanks for reading!
Have a great week!
