Weekly Wanderings 44: Reflections on Moving Out

Hello Lovelies!

It’s been almost a month since I moved out into my new place. Having been the first time truly living away from my family, it’s been an interesting experience that has taught me a lot about myself. Granted, my mum is still crashing in my living room, but really she’s not taking care of the house for me. And it’s been great! I’ve never really had the chance to organize and maintain my own space free from outside interference, and I’ve discovered a few things.

  1. I’m more organized than I thought. I’ve always been perceived as a little messy because I tend to have a cluttered space. But once I was actually able to put things away the way I wanted, things have gotten a lot neater.
  2. I actually enjoy tidying! While things like getting my laundry done and taking out the trash are not my favorite, I realize that small moments of tidying like putting away the dishes or cleaning off my bedside table are really enjoyable.
  3. Maybe I’m not the Darla-equivalent nightmare to plants that I thought I was. So far the plants that I’ve kept out on my balcony are holding on. I can’t really say that they’re thriving, but they aren’t dead yet. And I thoroughly love the fact that I don’t have to go to the store and buy basil or green onions!
  4. I am so, so blessed. Just sitting in my room the other day, I had the windows open and there was a great breeze coming in. A cherry blossom candle was burning away merrily on my bedside table. And I just felt so thankful. Like I totally don’t deserve this, I couldn’t have come to this place on my own, but God has so graciously given me this time in this place. And I know that I might not always have this, but I’m thankful I have this today.

On a different note, thinking about hosting a friendsgiving this year and I’m tempted to try this recipe for Grilled Lamb Chops with Mint Pesto by A Spicy Perspective instead of the traditional turkey.

And I must still be on a weird ice cream kick because this Mozzarella Ice Cream with Tomato Jam by Crazy Foodie Stunts sounds interesting.

And then there are these delicious looking Matcha cookies from Rasa Malaysia.

I’ve been really loving “Love Someone” by Lukas Graham ❤ There’s just something really simple and beautiful about the song that I like. And I think it is true, when you love someone you make room for them in your life. And it’s so bittersweet to have someone to lose.

Thanks for reading!

Have a great week!
