Starbucks Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino

It’s Frappuccino Happy Hour again! And Starbucks has a new Frappuccino and is bringing back an old one. The Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino is definitely a mouthful to order. And after the unicorn Frappuccino last week I wasn’t sure what to expect.  Also returning this week is the S’mores Frappuccino, one of my personal favorites. I wrote a review on it some time ago here.

The Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino has two new ingredients – dark chocolate powder and mint crystals. And the result is a drink that tastes quite like what a thin mint shake might taste like. It’s much lighter and less thickly chocolatey than I thought it would be. The drink ends up being more minty and refreshing despite it’s dark coloring. Like the S’mores Frappuccino, the Midnight Mint Mocha is a layered Frappuccino with whipped cream in the middle to give it a signature black and white striped look.

Overall, I really like this drink. It’s refreshing and still chocolatey. But I think I’ll stick with the S’mores Frappuccino. Though I will probably add the mint crystals to my next Green Tea Frappuccino as a twist.

A few customization tips.

Swap out the coffee base with shots of espresso for a smokier finish.

Ask for a larger size cup and extra whip cream if you want a creamier texture.

You can also use the new ingredients in other drinks. For example, add a scoop of mint crystals to your latte for a refreshing twist or dark chocolate powder as a topping to your S’mores Frappuccino for more depth.

Happy sipping!
